Switzerland Innovation Park Ost strengthens the innovative power of the Eastern Switzerland region and the Principality of Liechtenstein, creating a sustainable foundation for the competitiveness of Switzerland as a research and business location.
Our Vision
The Innovation Centre is the focal point of the innovation park. Here, a unique offering of knowledge, interaction, networking and hospitality is being built up for companies and research partners. This is how SIP Ost is developing into both an «exciting» and effective catalyst for innovation in Eastern Switzerland.
«Innovation Hubs» are emerging at the St.Gallen and Buchs locations, where the future becomes tangible. Groundbreaking innovations are presented here in a hands-on way, accompanied by inspiring lecture series and interactive workshops that spark creativity. These places are not only hubs for knowledge exchange, but also for the vibrant networking of industry and research. People from different fields work together on groundbreaking ideas to shape concrete projects and positively shape the future of our society. Switzerland Innovation Park Ost is the engine that actively brings together the driving forces of research and industry to foster innovation and shape the world of tomorrow.
We are significantly expanding the scope and quality of support for young companies. In the coming years, our research partners will launch ideation and incubator programmes in which interested students, doctoral candidates or industry employees can identify and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities. Teams with a business idea in the founding phase will then be supported through the Startfeld programme and are meant to grow into promising startup companies. For startups that successfully master this phase too, there will ultimately be a supra-regional accelerator programme, designed by the region’s venture capital investors and operated by the innovation park. This accelerator programme is intended to develop international appeal and attract Central Europe’s top startups from the fields of health, digitalisation and sensor technology. SIP Ost forms the operational framework around these various programmes, ensuring smooth processes and their seamless interaction.
Following the merger with Startfeld in 2021, two expansion buildings are planned over the next 10 years, tripling the office and lab space available for resident companies. During this period, our ecosystem is expected to grow from 35 to over 100 companies today. In future, not only startups but also innovative international companies active in the park’s research focus areas of health, digitalisation and sensor technology will be represented at the location.

Our core task as a Switzerland Innovation Park is to bring together researchers with their expertise and entrepreneurs with their ability to execute, and to initiate a purposeful professional exchange. We supplement missing expertise with the help of our nationwide, and in some cases international, network. Our goal is the economic success of our business customers through innovative new products and services.
